Big thanks to everyone who came along to Friday night's gig at the Old Hairdresser's in Glasgow,
it was great to play to such a great and enthusiastic crowd and I really enjoyed catching up with some
old friends (and new ones too)!..
The other musicians involved on the night put in outstanding performances, the second set featured some excellent cameos..stunningly good banjo playing as always from Celine Donoghue and I loved having the opportunity to do a couple of songs with Drew Sturgeon & Craig Jenkins from the Fast Camels which was a great buzz as well. My Goldenhour & Infomaniacs bandmates Neil Menzies & David Andrews were also in cracking form as they helped me bring the gig to a joyously raucous conclusion. Special thanks to Marc Tuffley who also joined us at short notice to add percussion & vocals to the mix. Marc is a man of many talents, he's also a fantastic guitarist and has stepped in to play drums too in the past for the full band line up of 'NS & The Infomaniacs'..In the half time break between my two sets Marc joined forces with his Van Impe colleague Stewart McNaughton to entertain the crowd as did The Zimmermen, I loved getting up to sing 'She Belongs To Me' with Craig and Kenny..their short set of Dylan classics hit the spot very nicely.
Thanks again everybody! NS.x
I hope you enjoy having a look round and
enjoy the features as it develops in the coming weeks and months in what should
be an exciting musical year..
Kicking things off nicely, a new 'NS & The Infomaniacs' single / EP is being released on 30th January 2017. 'NY Reflection Song' will be the third and final single from the forthcoming 'Geography & Luck' album (there is a preview of the track here..) the song is different in style from the previous two singles 'Break Me' & 'Ride The Tide' and is definitely one of the most uplifting tunes in my locker! The song itself has featured in my live sets in recent years and on this version I'm helped by great performances from Deborah Cooper (Vocals, Percussion), Eivind Hodne (Double Bass) and Celine Donoghue (Vocals, Banjo)..it's a fun song to play, with the banjo, spoons and double bass giving it more than a hint of a skiffle feel about it.
As well as updates on my current & future activities I'm looking forward to revisiting my musical past with songs, stories and footage of NS & The Infomaniacs, The Goldenhour and A Chocolate Morning soon to be added here.
On the live front I'm playing my first solo headline gig in a while at The Old Hairdresser's in Glasgow on Friday 3rd February. I'll be arranging more live dates soon and I'll post details as they happen.
